Students meet musical markings for volume changes, articulation (legato and staccato), and phrase shaping, along with gentle supporting patterns in the left hand. Small position changes, dotted-note patterns, and keys with up to three sharps or flats are gradually introduced. The main objective is to shape each melody so it sounds vocal and expressive, marking the transition from simply playing notes correctly to creating real music.
